Hans Peter Broedel earned his Ph.D. from the University of Washington. He is an associate professor of European History at the University of North Dakota. In addition to his book, Broedel has written various articles on the subject of the Malleus Maleficarum and European Witchcraft

Born and raised in Germany, Sigrid Brauner completed her Ph.D. at UC Berkley and taught at the University of Massachusetts from 1989 until her premature accidental death in late 1992. Brauner’s colleague and close friend Robert Brown contributed to and edited Fearless Wives and Frightened Shrews for publication, in 1995, 3 years after her death.
